Wellness IV Therapy

What it is

IV (intravenous) therapy is the delivery of fluids, vitamins, minerals, and amino acids directly into the bloodstream through a small catheter in a vein. Because the contents bypass the digestive tract, absorption is essentially 100 percent (compared to oral supplements, where absorption can range from 10 to 80 percent depending on the nutrient). Common formulations include hydration with electrolytes, B-complex and B12 for energy, high-dose vitamin C for immune support, glutathione for antioxidant support, and amino acids for muscle recovery.

Why we do it

IV therapy is not a replacement for a healthy diet, and we are direct about that. It is, however, an effective tool for specific clinical situations: pre- and post-operative recovery, rapid rehydration after illness or extended travel, support during the early weeks of GLP-1 therapy when oral intake is reduced, and adjunctive support for patients with documented micronutrient deficiencies. Each formulation is selected based on labs and clinical context, not a menu.

What happens during the procedure

Initial visit includes a brief medical review and any indicated lab work. Treatment is delivered in a quiet comfort suite. A small IV catheter is placed in a vein in the arm. Infusions take 30 to 60 minutes during which most patients read, work, or rest. The catheter is removed at the end and a small bandage is placed.

Who it’s for

Patients recovering from surgery or significant illness. Patients on GLP-1 medications needing fluid and electrolyte support during dose escalation. Patients with documented deficiencies in B12, vitamin D, or iron. Patients seeking adjunctive support for athletic or work-related recovery. Not appropriate for patients with significant heart failure, kidney disease, or fluid restriction.

Recovery and what to expect

None. Patients leave directly after the infusion.
